It was the second meeting of our Leonardo Da Vinci project. This time it took place in Innsbruck, Austria. Innsbruck is located in the west of Austria and is very close to the border of Germany and the border of Italy. It is not a really big city but it has everything you need, especially historic buildings from the 18th century. The citys image gets embellished by the mountains - the Alpes - which are surrounding everything. What can you do, when you stay there from Monday to Friday?
On Monday the only highlight was the arrival of all the partners, including their students. Most of us appeared at afternoon, so that we had some time for enjoying this reunion. After a common dinner at the youth hostel, were we all stayed the week, our host Christof and Fergus gave us an overview about the following activities. The next day we all got an Innsbruck Card which enables you to get to museums for free and use the cable car up to the mountains. Up to the mountains is where everyone wanted to go, because of the perfect weather with blue sky and the snow-covered panorama. All of us were so attracted to this place that we spent nearly the whole day on the mountains. Later on we were sliding with sleighs and snow-bikes. We had to leave the mountains in the afternoon and went back to the youth hostel, where we had a common dinner again. After dinner traditional folk songs from each of our partner countries were sung together.
Wednesday started after breakfast actually the same as the day before, because one group of 7 people decided to go back to the mountains to ski. Fergus and Christian gave the others the instructions they needed for it. Some were really able to go down the piste after their first day on skis already. In the evening everyone was tired because of all the sun above in 2.200 m hights. After dinner Fergus were doing a song writer course for all of us. We were divided into 4 groups and the result of some hours work were 4 really astonishing good songs.
Besides all the sightseeing things we still had to work on our project. Thats what we did the whole Thursday morning until noon. We were talking about the script of our film which is written by Portugal and about the following dates of the third mobility in Luxemburg. During our meeting the students did their rehearsals for the forthcoming concert at a retirement home in the afternoon. At 2 p.m. we had a common lunch at the venue and then the students played nearly on every floor of the retirement home. Though it was a strange spot for most of the students for playing a concert it was a really good thing to do. A lot of the residents enjoyed listening to the live music. In the evening we had dinner outside the youth hostel. It took place at a traditional event house with the motto "Tiroler Abend". During we had dinner people on stage were dancing tratidional dances or were yodeling. The last common hours came, so a big group decided to go out to the center of Innsbruck and have a last drink together.
On Friday it was time to say good bye and after breakfast Germany and Spain went first. It was a really good week and we want to say thanks again to Christof and Fergus for having us at their place.
We all are looking forward to seeing us again in Luxemburg.

Impressions of a student from Luxembourg
There, in Innsbruck, we learned a lot of the
history. There are beautiful old buildings from the 17th century. From the top
of the mountains we all had a nice view of the town, it was very impressing, but
not only the city was an experience but also the meet with new friends with who
we had a lot of fun during the week. It was a very nice holiday with
everybody!

Impressions of students from Portugal
The mobility to
Austria was very interesting and amusing. We visited a lot of Museums
and monuments. It was very cold and we saw much snow. Everything was
white, wherever we went…
What we loved the
most was to go to the mountain and trying the slide. Hours of
learning and fun.
Companhia da Música
is also a partner of the project and they went with us to Austria.
The student girls were very friendly and funny. If we needed
something they were always there to help us.
We tried new kinds
of food; the gastronomy wasn’t that bad …
We did some
workshops planned in the project’s programme, such as traditional
songs of each country, or composing new songs in groups of work. We
learned traditional songs from Luxembourg, Austria, Portugal, Spain…
Thursday we gave a
concert in a senior house: we played guitar and flute in three floors
of the house; the Spanish students also played and all partners sang
the traditional songs together.
At the end of that
day the Spanish students made tortilla and sangria and all partners
shared beautiful and unforgettable moments… After we went dinner to
an Austrian restaurant with jodelling songs and traditional dances.
Friday we went to
the Ambras Schloss while the students and teachers of Companhia da
Música went to the Italian border villages.
Saturday morning it
was time to pack and get back to Memmingen to fly back home. During
that return trip we had lunch in a restaurant and even ate ice-cream.
This mobility was an
unique experience: we learned about new cultures, worked with
different language students, tried new foods, learned a little bit of
german…
